EXTENDED OPENING HOURS

Patient opinon surveys done by ourselves locally, and the Government nationally, have identified a desire for extended opening hours in General Practice. In light of this we have decided to extend our opening hours to be available earlier in the mornings. We hope this will allow those of you who work or attend school and college to make a more convenient appointment.

We are now open for an extra hour from 07.00am to 08.00am on Tuesdays and Thursdays. From  January 2009 we will also open on the first Wednesday of each month from 07.00am to 08.00am.This will be for pre-booked appointments only. These appointments may be pre-booked through reception as usual.

During this extra time, emergencies and urgent medical problems will continue to be dealth with by NEMS our out -of-hours service provider. They continue to be responsible for urgent problems from 6.30pm to 08.00am.

There will be no doctor available for urgent problems at the surgery,  and the phone lines will not be open. For urgent problems please phone 9332948 as usual and you will put through to the emergency service..

We will be unable to make appointments or deal with results or prescriptions during this hour. Please continue to discuss these from 08.00am to 6.30pm.

HOW TO SEE A DOCTOR

consultationTO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT – Tel: 0115 9333737
All consultations are by appointment. Please make appointments in person or by phone from 8.00am to 6.30pm Monday Tuesday Wednesday and Friday. Thursday 8.00am to 12.30pm.

.

.Appointments are available on the same day for acute problems. Appointments are for 10 minutes.

Please ask for a longer appointment if you are aware you need extra time. If more than one member of the family is to be seen, please book separate appointments to avoid delays for other patients. Ideally, children under 16 years should be accompanied by an adult. Non-urgent appointments can be booked with a doctor up to four weeks in advance. You could also book a telephone consultation with any doctor for queries and reviews that do not need a face to face consultation.

FOR URGENT APPOINTMENTS – Tel: 0115 9332948
There is always an “on-call” doctor. If you feel you need an urgent appointment you may find the receptionist asks for your telephone number for the on-call doctor or practice nurse to call you back. This is to establish the nature of your problem and whether you need telephone advice, a surgery appointment or a home visit.
